The first baby of 2026 has arrived at Milton District Hospital, marking a joyful start to the new year for one local family.

Halton Healthcare announced that baby Elijah was born on Thursday, January 1st at 1:55 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 10 ounces. He is the second child for parents Sherine and Elmin.
“Welcoming the first baby of the year is always incredibly special,” says Cheryl Hoare, Program Director of Women and Children at Halton Healthcare. “We are thrilled to be part of this family’s journey and to support them through these meaningful moments.”
Over the past year, Halton Healthcare’s Women and Children team supported the births of 5,126 babies across its hospitals, continuing to provide care to growing families throughout the region.
