The Alliston Hornets failed to hang on to two different leads and it bit them in the end.
On Saturday, December 27th, the boys travelled to Orillia to take on the Terriers at the West Orillia Sports Complex. They played with just 15 skaters compared to the full 18.
Gunner Kirk opened the scoring just over a minute into the game. Hunter Martell then quickly followed up with his 1st of the year. Orillia then scored back-to-back goals, including one with one second to go, to tie the game after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Duncan Grube took back the lead for Alliston. Once again, with one second to go, the Terriers would tie the game going into intermission.
Orillia finally took their first lead of the game in the third period. They’d hang onto it, beating Alliston 4-3.
Riley Arts was in net for the Hornets. He had a busy night, stopping 36 of 40 shots for the even .900% save percentage and the loss.
The Hornets return home on Monday, December 29th to host the Midland Flyers. It’s their final game of 2025. Game time at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre is set for 7:00 p.m. Ticket details are here.
