The Town of Milton has been recognized as one of Canada’s top communities for arts and culture, earning national honours through Culture Days’ Top Participating Communities list.
In 2025, Milton ranked 5th overall in Canada and 2nd among mid-sized cities for community participation, highlighting strong local engagement in arts and cultural programming. The recognition reflects a partnership between the Town of Milton and Arts Milton, which work together to support creative initiatives and community-driven events throughout the year.

Milton also received additional recognition with the Best Collaborative Program award for Threads of Tradition: Introduction to Phulkari Embroidery. The hands-on cultural learning experience was led by artist Rafia Shafiq and organized collaboratively by the Town of Milton, the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Oakville, and the City of Burlington, in partnership with the Art Gallery of Burlington and Halton Region Heritage Services.
Town officials say the awards underscore the value of collaboration in building inclusive and meaningful cultural experiences. The recognition comes as Arts Milton marks its 25th anniversary with a “Year of Collaborations” theme, emphasizing partnerships that strengthen the local creative sector and expand access to arts programming.
Residents can explore upcoming winter arts and culture programs at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton, with program details and registration information available online.
