Milton Magic FC has appointed former Major League Soccer defender and Canadian international Doneil Henry as its new Male Program Technical Director.
The 32-year-old joins the club while continuing in his roles as Sporting Director and co-owner of League1 Ontario’s Simcoe County Rovers FC. The appointment follows Henry’s retirement from a 13-year professional playing career.
Henry made his MLS debut for Toronto FC in 2010 as the club’s first homegrown player, winning three Canadian Championships and making 70 appearances before a 2015 move to West Ham. His career included loan spells with Blackburn Rovers and AC Horsens, a return to MLS with Vancouver and later LAFC, Toronto FC, and Minnesota United, and a final stop with the Halifax Wanderers in 2023. Internationally, Henry earned 44 caps for Canada after debuting in 2012 and was part of the squad that qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In his new role, Henry will support player development and coach education at Milton Magic FC, working with Sporting Director David Benning and Female Program Technical Director Cristina Romanelli. Benning said Henry’s leadership, resilience, and experience will help elevate the club’s programming and inspire players and staff.
Milton’s youth soccer organization officially rebranded to Milton Magic FC in 2024.
