The Town of Milton is inviting residents to attend an in-person information session on additional residential units (ARUs) next week.
This session follows a virtual presentation held on Tuesday, October 21st and will help residents learn more about self-contained living spaces such as basement apartments, garden suites, and granny flats.
The ARU program, launched in March 2025, helps the Town track and ensure safety standards for these secondary units, supporting emergency response and compliance with the Ontario Fire Code and local zoning by-laws. The initiative builds on Council-approved changes from June 2024 that allow ARUs in Milton’s urban areas to expand affordable housing options.
It’s being held on Tuesday, October 28th, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Milton Sports Centre’s Banquet Room, located at 605 Santa Maria Boulevard in Milton.
Staff from Milton Fire and Rescue Services, By-law Enforcement, and the Building Division will share important safety and compliance information related to the program. Residents must register online by October 26th as space is limited.
Those unable to attend can watch the virtual presentation and access additional resources.
