The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) are investigating a multi-vehicle collision in Milton.
On Tuesday, October 21st, at roughly 5:20 p.m., officers responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles on Regional Road 25 between Henderson Road and Lower Base Line.
Initial investigation indicates that a 70-year-old Brampton man was operating a southbound tractor trailer on Regional Road 25 when it collided with a northbound black SUV driven by a 22-year-old Burlington man. Following the initial impact, the tractor trailer veered toward the west ditch, where it struck a blue pickup truck, also travelling southbound, driven by a 23-year-old Burlington man.
As a result of the secondary collision, the pickup truck struck a hydro pole, causing it to break and become lodged in the front windshield of the tractor trailer. Both southbound vehicles came to rest in the west ditch.
The driver of the SUV sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby trauma centre. The drivers of the tractor trailer and the pickup truck were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, Regional Road 25 was closed for an extended period to allow for scene investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU), as well as vehicle recovery and clean-up operations.
Halton Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision and has not yet provided a statement to contact the CRU at 905-825-4747 ext. 5065 or email CRU@haltonpolice.ca.
