St. Paul's United Church in Milton
The Halton Music Project is putting on a concert this weekend with world renowned The Nathaniel Dett Chorale.
Dr. Brainerd Blyden-Taylor was born in Trinidad & Tobago and immigrated to Canada in 1973. He founded the Chorale in 1998 to fill a musical void and give voice to Afrocentric choral traditions that had not yet been professionally represented in Canada.
His influence reaches far and wide. In addition to leading choirs and orchestras across North America, he also left a lasting impact on the Milton Choristers, serving as conductor for seven years in the 1980s and enriching the community’s musical heritage.
Audiences can experience his remarkable work firsthand when The Nathaniel Dett Chorale performs in Milton on Saturday, October 25th, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church. Founder of the Halton Music Project, Donald Frank Clements, shares what residents can expect at this show.
The 90-minute concert will showcase a moving blend of spirituals, contemporary works, and traditional songs celebrating African heritage and its influence on North American music.
Tickets are $30 for general admission and $10 for students, available here.
