Milton will be marking International Week of Deaf People next week with two community events hosted by the Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence.
The week kicks off with a special concert featuring Canadian country singer-songwriter Marshall Dane on Sunday, September 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the FirstOntario Arts Centre’s Mattamy Theatre. Part of The All Access Tour, the show will include full ASL interpretation, ensuring an inclusive and accessible experience for both Deaf and hearing audiences. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students, and $10 for children, with taxes and fees included.
On Tuesday, September 23rd, a Deaf flag raising ceremony will take place at Milton Town Hall. The event will bring together members of the Deaf and hearing community, with Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz and Burlington MPP Natalie Pierre in attendance.
This year’s theme for International Week of Deaf People is “No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights.”
