The Town of Halton Hills is celebrating a significant investment in seniors’ services, with over $140,000 in provincial funding supporting local programs and facilities.
The announcement brought together Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor, Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Joseph Racinsky, and Newmarket-Aurora MPP Dawn Gallagher Murphy to acknowledge the importance of keeping older adults active, engaged, and supported.
Mayor Lawlor expressed her gratitude for the ongoing provincial support.
“I thank the provincial government for maintaining its mandate for seniors services… and I appreciate MPP Racinsky’s advocacy efforts on our seniors’ behalf.”
The funding supports the Town’s two Seniors Active Living Centres – Hillsview in Acton and Georgetown, as well as broader community programming. Each centre received $55,000 in operational funding and a $4,420 special grant. The town’s seniors community programs also received $30,000 in operational support and an additional $4,420 special grant.
MPP Racinsky highlighted the impact of this funding.
“The over $140,000 investment from the provincial government into Halton Hills’ senior’s services is evidence of that commitment and support.”
As a former Halton Hills councillor, Racinsky noted his personal connection to the programs and their positive impact on the community.
Halton Hills’ seniors services are part of a larger provincial network of over 300 Seniors Active Living Centres providing recreational, cultural, and educational programming to enhance the quality of life for Ontario’s aging population.
