The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has officially released its 2024 Annual Report.
In 2024, HRPS responded to 139,119 calls for service, a 0.16% increase over 2023. Crime statistics were mixed: robbery and break and enters rose by 11.1% and 15.1%, respectively, while sexual assaults and auto thefts saw decreases of 13.9% and 20.9%.
The report highlights significant achievements and ongoing efforts in areas such as home invasions, carjackings, human trafficking, internet child exploitation, and intimate partner violence. It also outlines the Service’s commitment to community well-being through programs like harm reduction and the launch of the Halton Police Foundation.
“As we reflect on 50 years of public service, we are exceedingly proud of the progress we’ve made to keep Halton safe,” says Chief Stephen Tanner. “Together with our residents and partners, we continue to take action against crime while promoting health and safety in every corner of our community.”
With more than 1,200 sworn and civilian members, HRPS was recently named one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for the second year in a row.
Chief Tanner posted a video message that accompanies the report. You can watch it here.
