The Halton Hills Public Library has announced its 2025 One Book, One Halton Hills title: 52 Ways to Reconcile by David A. Robertson.
Since its release on May 13, the book has become a Globe and Mail bestseller and was recently named one of Indigo’s Best Books of 2025 So Far.
Published on the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Final Report, 52 Ways to Reconcile offers a clear and practical guide for Canadians seeking to walk the path of reconciliation. The book presents one small weekly action—such as watching an Indigenous film, reading Indigenous authors, or supporting Indigenous artists—making the journey accessible and meaningful for all readers.
“At a time when Canadians are seeking unity and a deeper understanding of our shared identity, 52 Ways to Reconcile offers a guide for your reconciliation journey,” says Andrea Arsenault, Community Librarian at Halton Hills Public Library.
David A. Robertson is a bestselling author from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba and a widely respected voice in Indigenous literature. His works span graphic novels, children’s books, and adult non-fiction. He recently became editorial director of Swift Water Books, the first Indigenous children’s imprint within a major Canadian publisher.
The community will have a chance to meet Robertson in person on Tuesday, October 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the John Elliott Theatre. The event includes a live author interview, Q&A session, and book signing.
Tickets are available through the theatre’s box office, and copies of 52 Ways to Reconcile can be purchased at the library.
