Milton Transit and the Milton Public Library are once again teaming up to offer the popular Read and Ride program this summer, giving youth aged 16 and under the chance to ride Milton Transit for free.
From Saturday, June 14th to Saturday, August 30th, young riders can simply show a validated library card to the bus driver to enjoy complimentary travel across town.
Validation stickers will be available at all Milton Public Library branches starting June 14th. Participants must place the sticker on their library card to qualify for free rides.
“Read and Ride reflects our shared goal of supporting youth through greater access to learning and community spaces,” says Sarah Douglas-Murray, Chief Librarian & CEO of Milton Public Library. “This program helps young people reach the library, explore Milton, and make the most of their summer with ease and freedom.”
To kick things off, a celebration will be held at the Main Library Branch, located at 1010 Main Street East, on June 14th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will feature family-friendly activities and a scavenger hunt aboard a Milton Transit bus.
“Milton Transit is excited to bring back the Read and Ride program this summer,” says Tony D’Alessandro, Director of Milton Transit. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for youth to explore our town, enjoy the convenience of Milton Transit, and access all the incredible resources and programs the library has to offer.”
