Students and staff at Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School in Milton have surpassed all expectations by raising more than $134,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society during their annual Relay for Life event.
Their original fundraising goal was more than quadrupled thanks to an incredible outpouring of community support.
The funds were raised through a mix of book sales, raffle baskets, sponsorships, and direct donations.
On Thursday, May 8th, the school held its culminating event, where students walked the track, lit tea lights, and placed message-filled paper bags in the gymnasium to honour loved ones affected by cancer. A cheque was then presented to the Canadian Cancer Society.
