We now have a date for the recount for the Milton East – Halton Hills South federal riding.
Canada’s Chief Electoral Officer, Stéphane Perrault, has announced a judicial recount of votes on Tuesday, May 13th at 400 Steeles Avenue East in Milton. The recount follows the recent federal election where just 29 votes separated the top two candidates – a margin small enough to automatically trigger a judicial recount under federal law.
Recounts are mandatory when the difference between the top vote-getters is less than one-thousandth (0.1%) of the total valid votes cast.
It will be overseen by Justice Leonard Ricchetti of the Superior Court of Ontario.
Elections Canada will publish the official recount results once the process is complete.
