The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is celebrating student success following the 33rd annual Halton Skills Competition.
More than 1,100 elementary and 250 secondary students were able to demonstrate their talents in a range of disciplines. From construction and coding to design and culinary arts, participants showcased impressive creativity, technical ability, and problem-solving skills.
This year, 47 standout students have qualified to represent HDSB at the Skills Ontario Competition, taking place Monday May 5th – Tuesday, May 6th at the Toronto Congress Centre, with a closing ceremony on Wednesday, May 7th. Winners at the provincial level can earn medals, monetary awards, and even a spot in the upcoming Skills Canada National Competition.
“The Skills Ontario Competition is an exciting next step for our students,” says Curtis Ennis, HDSB’s Director of Education. “These hands-on competitions play a vital role in fulfilling our commitment to Learning, Engagement and Achievement, as outlined in the HDSB’s 2024-2028 Multi-Year Strategic Plan.”
