It’s the case of the stolen walnuts!
Back on Sunday, November 5th, 2023, a transport truck and trailer containing walnuts were stolen from the yard of a business located in the area of Eagle Street North and Hespeler Road in Cambridge.
The stolen trailer and walnuts were subsequently recovered in Milton by Halton Regional Police Service on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, and returned to the business.
On Friday, December 29th, 2023, walnuts valued at roughly $26,000 were stolen again from the trailer.
In February 2024, Waterloo Police, with assistance from the Hamilton Police Service, recovered some of the stolen walnuts, valued at roughly $11,000.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, on Thursday, October 17th, members of WRPS’ General Investigations Unit arrested and charged a 68-year-old Kitchener male with possession of stolen property over $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, November 27th.
