The Milton Pubic Library (MPL) wants to inspire hope with one of their newest displays.
On Tuesday, September 10th, for World Suicide Prevention Day, the MPL unveiled the ‘Garden of Hope’ in their Beaty branch sensory gardens. This was a joint initiative with the Halton Suicide Prevention Coalition, a collaboration of individuals and organizations in Halton that work together to provide leadership, advocacy and education in the areas of suicide awareness and support. Participants in the Garden of Hope had the opportunity to paint a message and images on rocks on August 12th. They also had the chance to learn more about what the Halton Suicide Prevention Coalition and the importance of the garden for the community.
Former Chief of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Stacey Laforme, spoke at the unveiling. He says these kinds of initiatives are vital for any community.

You can find the Garden of Hope at the Milton Public Library’s Beaty branch, located at 945 Fourth Line in Milton. It’s along the wall on the southside of the building. They also have a medicine garden behind the building, along with their popular beehives! Learn more here.
