Football is back tonight!
This always made the end of summer break acceptable for me when I was growing up. The return of the NFL means Sundays will be spent exclusively on the couch for the next four to five months.
Tonight, we’ll see the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens. Now, why is that so notable for an adult contemporary radio station in Milton, Ontario to be talking about? Well, there’s a high likelihood that Taylor Swift will be plastered all over the television screen. If you’re a big Swiftie, tonight is your night as well.
Are you a big football fan? A big Taylor Swift fan? Both? Neither?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Milton Fall Fair returning for another year
Get ready for loads of rides, food, live music, and events as the Milton Fall Fair is returning for another year. It starts on Friday, September 27th at 3pm at the Milton Fairgrounds. The Fair will run all weekend. We’re expected to be there all three days, broadcasting live on location. If you want to stop by, say hi, and get yourself three corn dogs, a large poutine, and a Beavertail, I won’t stop you. In fact, I’ll encourage it. Live your best life! Go see the Milton Fall Fair.
Daily WTF – Dog named ‘Buckethead’ rescued from plastic container in Vermont
Sometimes you get yourself in situations that you can’t get out unless someone lends you a helping hand. A dog in a Vermont town was seen wandering around for nearly a week. The community nicknamed him ‘Buckethead’ because the poor guy had a plastic container stuck on his head. Thing is, as the days went on, people realized ole Bucky wasn’t getting this container off, and he was clearly going to starve to death if someone didn’t step in. Animal Control reportedly lured him in with the smell of Chicken McNuggets and after a few gives, the bucket was off of Buckethead’s head. It worked for Winnie The Pooh, and it worked for Buckethead. They’ve since taken him into the local shelter where he’s being treated and fed, and soon put up for adoption.
Daily Did You Know – Here’s everything you need to know about Milton’s Terry Fox Run
You’ll need to get those running shoes ready… The Terry Fox Run in Milton is coming soon. The Terry Fox Foundation says their annual run will be held on Sunday, September 15th. Here in Milton, it will once again be held at EC Drury, starting at 10am. This is one of my favourite events every year, as people get together and run to raise money for cancer research, all in the name of (in my opinion) the greatest Canadian, Terry Fox. Registration starts at 8:30am.
Jagmeet Singh pulls NDP out of deal with Trudeau Liberals, takes aim at Poilievre Conservatives
It seems we’re getting a federal election sooner rather than later. It was reported yesterday that NDP federal leader, Jagmeet Singh, has decided to pull out of the supply-and-confidence agreement with the Liberal Party, which was what was keeping Prime Minister Trudeau in power. This is a deal that was signed in 2022 following the last federal election, and was set to expire next year. Singh said the Liberals are “too weak” and “too selfish” to fight for the middle class and stop the Conservatives. So, what this means is an election is expected. There’s the chance that we wait all the way until October 2025, but it could very easily be called early, just like the last one. So, if you haven’t been following politics for a couple of years, it might be time to brush up on some local issues. Here in Milton, barring any changes, it’ll be current Member of Parliament, Adam van Koeverden of the Liberal Party, and former Milton MPP, Parm Gill of the Conservative Party. The other Parties will eventually name their candidates. And then it’s election season… Yayyyyyyy.

GOOD NEWS – Hiker found ‘alive and well’ after a month in North Cascades National Park
A man went missing in North Cascades National Park in Washington state. His vehicle was found abandoned at the park, and his dog was discovered eight miles into the trail. Thing is, there was no sign of Robert Schock. He had last been seen by hikers way back on July 31st. According to reports, he was not equipped with overnight equipment. Over several weeks, search parties went out and looked for the man, and his family started to lose hope. This past week, after being out in the wild for more than a month, Schock was found alive and well in the Chilliwack Basin… And that is some good news!
Fish with Buck Martinez in Panama
The Toronto Blue Jays are doing an auction right now, and one of the items has caught the attention of diehard fans. For just $40,000, Jays fans could spend a week in Panama fishing with Blue Jays play-by-play announcer, Buck Martinez. The auction opened on Tuesday, and the closing bid will be made next Tuesday. All funds raised are supporting the Jays Care Foundation, which according to the team, “[help] give kids of all backgrounds and all abilities a place on a team where they belong.” So, if you went to take a private flight down to Panama and spend a week with Buck, it’ll cost you at least $40,000…
Have a travel nightmare story? You could win $13,000 for it
Have you ever had a horrible travel experience? Something so bad that no matter who you tell, they always say, “wow, what a nightmare.” Well, that experience could net you $13,000. Travel insurance provider Travel Guard is offering unlucky travelers a chance to win a whole bunch of cash. They’re looking for people who had the worst trips imaginable, whether it’s spraining your ankle on-stage during a cruise ship talent show or being swarmed by bees on a camping trip. If it’s it bad, they want to hear from you. Your story must be submitted by October 15th, and then the following month, the public can vote on the worst stories. The story with the most votes wins the grand prize of US$10,000. There will be a prize for second and third place as well. Good luck, and hopefully your traveling luck picks up!
