A Stoney Creek man is facing a list charges following traffic stop along the Highway 407 in Burlington.
On Thursday, August 29th, at roughly 10:45 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a commercial motor vehicle for not having a toll transponder on Highway 407 westbound, west of Appleby Line.
Under the authority of the Tobacco Tax Act, officers searched the commercial motor vehicle and located 3.6 million unmarked cigarettes. The cigarettes were not marked or stamped with valid legal identification.
As a result of the investigation, the 33-year-old man was charged with:
- Possession of unmarked cigarettes for sale
- Possession of unmarked cigarettes under the Tobacco Tax Act.
- Drive motor vehicle – improper licence
- No toll device
He is scheduled to appear in a Burlington court on November 18th.
