I’m attending a wedding this weekend.
My wife is in the bridal party, so she decided to get the happy couple a personalized gift. Despite that, I’ve still been tasked with providing a cash gift as well. It is what it is.
What’s your gifting “strategy” for weddings? Do you get something from the registry? Do you buy/make something special? Cash?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Oakville man woke up to lottery win
Shoutout to Michel Manseau, who is the latest local lottery winner. The Oakville man said he was getting ready in the morning one day last month when he checked his OLG account. Turns out, he won $100,000. Not too bad! Manseau plans to share his winnings with his wife, which I’m sure will make for a fun end to 2024. What would you do if you woke up to $100,000 sitting in your account? Let me know!
Daily WTF – Connecticut woman’s tattoos, body modifications break world records
A woman is breaking world records with her entire body of work… Like, her literal body of work that has been done. Guinness World Records says this woman has tattoos covering 99.8% of her body. She also has 89 body modifications, including piercings, a split tongue, and those weird implant bump things. This has given the Connecticut woman the world records for most tattoos for a female, and most body modifications for a female… After seeing that, I can’t wait to see who has the MALE records.
Daily Did You Know – Milton firefighters will wash your car for charity this weekend
If you need your car washed this weekend, you can get it done by firefighters for charity! The Milton Fire Department is holding a fundraising car wash on Saturday. Stop by the Milton Memorial Arena between 10am and 1pm to get it done. All funds raised will support The Darling Home For Kids.
Video game tournament being held at Milton library
The summer break is just about to end. I remember being a kid, my summer breaks were a mix of playing sports outside all day, and playing video games inside all night. If your kids are into video games, they can sign up for a video game tournament in Milton! It’s happening tomorrow at the Milton Public Library’s Main location. Kids between the ages of 10 and 15 will compete in Super Smash Bros. – with gift cards and prizes available. That starts at 2pm and runs until 4:30pm.
IKEA Canada kickstarts a year dedicated to sleep with nationwide PJ party event
You’re invited to a pajama party at IKEA! The giant furniture retailer is holding a nationwide PJ party event. On September 7th, customers are able to show up to any store in their PJs and they’ll get a bunch of savings. They’ll also have fun in-store events and a free breakfast! The reason why they’re doing this is IKEA is launching a campaign all about sleep, so they thought, “let’s throw a PJ party with our customers!” So, that’s fun! Just make sure you’re not the first one to fall asleep… That never works out well.
GOOD NEWS – Mom delivers baby on highway and dad finds wedding ring there days later
I think it’s safe to say that most moms would like to give birth either at home or in a hospital. Specifically, wherever there are medical professionals and you feel comfortable. For Rebecca Mahota and her husband, Danya, she went into labour on the highway. The water broke in the car unexpectedly, and one contraction later, the couple was on the side of the road. Baby girl Summer was born healthy, and the couple eventually made their way to the hospital. Thing is, during the whole process, Danya had lost his wedding ring. He went back to the site of the birth three days later, and eventually found his ring…. And that’s some good news!
Daryl Hall Cancels Show Due to COVID Illness
Daryl Hall had a rough time on stage recently. The former member of the band Hall & Oates was performing in Vancouver earlier this week. He came out, played a couple songs, and the crowd said he seemed off. That’s when Hall apologized and said he feels very sick. The singer walked off stage, and eventually his crew said they were going to get him checked out. 30 minutes later, the show was cancelled. Turns out, he had COVID. He’s now cancelling his upcoming shows as he recovers. He’s 77-years-old, which is not a great age to be testing positive. Hopefully he rests up and feels better!
Tim Hortons adds dog toys to the menu
I don’t know about you, but my dogs love Timbits from Tim Hortons. When they were younger, we’d walk down Mountainview in Georgetown and get them some old fashioned plain Timbits to snack on. Then they got older, those walks turned into drives, and now those lazy fellas just get delivery service. But it’s a nice treat for them! Well, there are a lot of people who treat their pups with Timbits, and Timmies has announced a new menu item to honour that. Starting on Monday, Tim Hortons customers can buy DOG TOYS. Yes, Timmies Dog Toys. It’s for National Dog Day. You can either buy a squeaky Timbits box or a squeaky red coffee cup. Later this year, they’ll also have cat toys! Those will be available online and in participating Tim Hortons locations.
Phil Collins Working on First New Music in 20-Plus Years
It’s been a few years since Phil Collins was on tour. He had been famously unwell and struggled to do anything without sitting down. This caused a lot of fans to worry. Turns out, Mr. Collins is thriving! He’s just a little older, and 73-years-old, touring can be pretty hard on the body. He’s been resting up, and reports say, Phil Collins is working on new music. It’s been 22 years since he last released anything new and original. I grew up on Phil Collins, whether it was Genesis, his solo stuff, or even just the Tarzan movie soundtrack. So, if he’s releasing new music, I’ll be there!
