What hill are you willing to “die” on?
We’ve been talking a lot about this in the office, detailing silly arguments we’ve each had with our partners over non-issues. For some reason, we all decide to plant our flag on a particular issue.
With my wife and I, it seems that flag has to do with water consumption. I drink a lot of water. On a good day, it’s over six litres of water. I tell my wife all the time that she needs to drink more water. It helps with headaches, it’s good for your skin, and it’s good for your body. Surprise, but water is good for you. Despite all that, my wife struggles to drink more than a litre a day. This has led to many back-and-forths in our 11 years together.
So, what is it for you? What hill are you willing to die on? What have you planted your flag into? What ship are you going down with? Tell me a small thing that you will always go to bat for?
Is it making the bed every day? Is it how the toothpaste should be squeezed? Is it how the bacon is cooked? What is it?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – RECAP WITH CAP: Weekly interview with Milton Menace captain Graeme MacAuley
We started a new series this week. Milton Menace Captain Graeme MacAuley was in-studio for the first episode of ‘Recap with Cap’, which will be a weekly interview discussing the week that was, is, and will be for the Menace. We discussed training camp, his journey with the Menace, and his prediction on the upcoming season.
Daily WTF – Man arrested at airport after opening plane door and walking on wing
It’s always a good reminder that despite the fact that you go throughout the day living as yourself, that does not necessarily make you the main character of your world. Many people seem to struggle with ‘Main Character Syndrome’, where they believe they can get away with things because they are themselves. “I’m ME, of course I can do this.” Case in point, a man was arrested at an airport in Australia after he opened the plane door and walked on the wing. Now, you could probably guess, but the plane was still on the ground (thankfully). The aircrew managed to get ahold of him and keep him still until police arrived. An investigation is underway – and the man is expected to be charged at a later date.
Daily Did You Know – Oakville man woke up to lottery win
Shoutout to Michel Manseau, who is the latest local lottery winner. The Oakville man said he was getting ready in the morning one day last month when he checked his OLG account. Turns out, he won $100,000. Not too bad! Manseau plans to share his winnings with his wife, which I’m sure will make for a fun end to 2024. What would you do if you woke up to $100,000 sitting in your account? Let me know!
Chick-fil-A Is Launching a Streaming Service
We are squarely in the middle of the streaming boom. Anyone and everyone is trying to launch a streaming service, and that includes restaurants, apparently. Chick-fil-A has announced plans to have their own streaming service. The goal is to have original, unscripted content. Essentially, they’ll produce their own game shows and reality shows. They might move onto scripted shows and animation in the future, as well. Apparently other non-entertainment companies have done something similar, with Lyft and Airbnb having their own productions. It’s unknown what the Chick-fil-A streaming service will be called, but based on other options, expect some version of ‘TV’ and ‘PLUS’ thrown in there.
How to Watch the 2024 Summer Paralympics—and Why You Should
Friendly reminder that while the 2024 Paris Summer Games have come to an end, that does not mean the Olympic events are over. Starting on Wednesday, August 28th, the 2024 Summer Paralympics will kick off. It showcases the best athletes with physical disabilities from around the world competing for their home countries. It’s a great time, always a fun watch. The Paralympics will run until September 8th, and are expected to be broadcast across Canada.
GOOD NEWS – Flavor Flav Keeps Olympic Spirit Burning, Boosts GoFundMe For Paralympian’s Parents to Join Him in Paris
Flavor Flav was a hit over the Paris Summer Games, as he helped fund the US Women’s Polo team. He was on site, serving almost like a mascot. He’s keeping his good vibes going as the Paralympics get set to kick off. A US sprinter started a GoFundMe to get his parents to come see him compete in Paris. Flav saw the fundraiser and decided to share it, saying it’d be heartbreaking to go through life as a parent, spending all that time and money to help your child become an athlete, and then not get to be there in person when that child is on the biggest stage. Since Flavor Flav shared it, the GoFundMe has surpassed its $10,000 goal and the parents are heading to Paris with their son… And that’s some good news!
Adam Sandler is putting ‘stud’ Travis Kelce in the ‘Happy Gilmore’ sequel
Every day that passes means we are that much closer to the release of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’. The sequel to Adam Sandler’s hit 1996 comedy has long been in the works, but the Sandman himself says he’s having fun putting it together. He was on Jimmy Fallon recently where he announced an unexpected cast member for the film: Travis Kelce. Yes, the Tight End for the Kansas City Chiefs; brother to Jason Kelce; and, of course, the boyfriend of Taylor Swift. Kelce has had quite the last few years, going from winning back-to-back Super Bowls with the Chiefs, to dating the biggest popstar on the planet, to hosting game shows, and now, starring in movies. He’s living the dream, that’s for sure. Happy Gilmore 2 will be released on Netflix, with a release date still to be announced.
Canadian repeats 2020 Walmart grocery order in 2024 — the price difference is shocking
The last few years have been a real attack on the wallet. It seems that ever since the pandemic happened, the price of everything has skyrocketed. Grocery stores and the companies they sell are trying their hardest to get as much from their customers as possible, and nothing shows off this inflation more than comparing prices. A person on Reddit detailed the difference in cost between the same grocery items from 2020 to 2024, and it’s staggering to see just how much more expensive things are nowadays. Using a food delivery app, they were able to repeat a 12 item grocery order from the fall of 2020, back when a lot of people were getting their groceries delivered because of COVID. Two of the items actually went down in size, which is a bad sign. In 2020, the order cost this person $145. In 2024, it jumped up to $214. The difference was just under $69. Not so nice! So, yes, we talk a lot about inflation… But it’s real… It’s real and it hurts.
Hot Ones fans baffled as hit YouTube series announces bizarre next guest
If you’ve ever been on social media, you’ve likely at some point come across an interview series known as ‘Hot Ones’. Run by Sean Evans, it’s one of the biggest things on the internet, with millions of people watching every single episode. If you don’t know what it is, the best way to describe it is, “big time celebrities being interviewed while eating chicken wings that get progressively hotter.” It’s very entertaining. Anyway, the show announced an upcoming guest this week, and it has left fans a little confused. Tomorrow, Donald Duck will appear on Hot Ones. Yes, the cartoon Disney duck will appear on a real interview talk show where they eat chicken wings… Donald Duck will be on Hot Ones… I really hope he goes with the vegetarian option on this one.
