I was at a baseball tournament in Milton on Saturday, and while watching the games, the group of us got into a discussion:
What is the best chocolate bar?
Obviously, we all have our favourites, but is there a favourite that stands out among the rest? Like, my favourite chocolate bar is a Big Turk, but I recognize not everyone enjoys eating that specific chocolate bar. Conversely, a lot of people love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and I can’t stand them.
So, which one is the most universally loved? Is it a KitKat bar? Is it an Aero? Maybe it’s just a plain Hershey’s or Cadbury bar?
What do you think?
Let me know!

ICYMI – Local tennis courts closing again for more construction
If all the Olympic action got you wanting to get outdoors more, maybe play a few games of tennis, you’ll want to avoid a certain set of local tennis courts. The Town of Milton says the courts at Optimist Park on Savoline Boulevard is BACK under construction. This is phase two of their upgrading process, with phase one having happened in the spring. The closure starts this week, and it should run for roughly two weeks, weather permitting. In the meantime, you can find OTHER tennis courts around town.
Daily WTF – Chicago woman takes dog to vet for teeth cleaning, only for dog to be mistakenly spayed
The next time you bring your dog to the vet, you might want to double check if they know exactly what the appointment is about. A Chicago woman took her dog to the vet to get the dog’s teeth cleaned. She thought her 10-year-old Cavapoo named Savannah was in for a regular grooming appointment, but when she picked Savannah back up, there was a cone wrapped around her head. Her dog had been spayed by accident. If you’re wondering, “how does that happen?” Well, so is the woman. Apparently there was a dog scheduled for a spaying that looked exactly like Savannah, and there was a mix-up when selecting the dog. The woman is now considering legal action. Thing is, the vet is still trying to get Savannah booked for the teeth cleaning. Yeah, I don’t think that’s happening anytime soon.

Each week, we speak with Milton Historical Society President, John Challinor, about the origins of local street names. We covered a street named after a former Prime Minister and a former active community member from 100 years ago. There will be two more street names next week!
Ontario Premier Doug Ford holding festival in Milton
FordFest is coming to Milton! The annual festival is typically held in Premier Doug Ford’s home riding of Etobicoke, but it’s coming here later this week. Ford will be there, along with Milton’s MPP Zee Hamid. There’ll be free food, music, and rides. That’s all happening this Friday at Country Heritage Park, starting at 5pm.
GOOD NEWS – Chinese drones will fly trash out of Everest slopes
Mount Everest is a symbol of human triumph, but over recent years, the place has become the world’s tallest dump. Trash and human feces litter the mountainside, as thousands of people make the trek up the mountain every year. To help handle the mess, it’s been announced that China will use drones to carry down garbage from the mountain. These drones can handle up to 234 kg of trash an hour. In a dream world, these drones help keep Mount Everest litter-free… And that is some good news!
Costco to scan membership cards before customers enter store
Costco continues to crackdown on membership sharing, and this time, they might have figured it out. Previously, if you had a Costco membership, you just showed your card while entering the store. Now, you’ll need to get it scanned before entering. These are starting to pop up at stores in the states, and are likely coming north of the border in the coming months. The card will be scanned, and if your membership doesn’t have a picture on it, you’ll need to show ID that matches the name on the card. This is to stop people from using their friend’s and family’s membership cards that don’t include them on the plan. If that includes you, you’ll either need to get your own, or find somewhere else to buy a million rolls of toilet paper for low, low prices.
Ye vs. Taylor? Here We Go Again on Next Week’s Billboard 200
The music industry’s biggest feud seems to be continuing, and this time, the battleground is the Billboard 200 album chart. Taylor Swift has been dominating these charts the last few years with her album re-releases, and her latest new album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. Thing is, her arch nemesis, Kanye West, just released a new album. ‘Vultures 2’ debuted at #2 on the Billboard chart, right behind Swift’s album. It breaks Ye’s streak of debuting albums appearing at #1. We’re closing in on the 15-year anniversary of Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMAs to tell the world that Beyoncé should have won the award that Swift was holding. Kanye did say he’d let Swift finish, and it seems like she’s finishing just fine right now.
Disney unveils Avatar 3’s official title and new films
There’s a lot of new stuff coming from Disney in the coming weeks, month, and years. They had their annual conference recently, known as D23. Every year, this event provides all kinds of news, trailers, gossip, whatever you’d like from Disney. We got announcements for new Avatar movies, with Avatar 3 coming next year. Three Star Wars movies were announced, all expected to be released in the next few years. Trailers and teasers came for a new Lilo and Stitch movie, and a new Lion King movie. There were trailers for Percy Jackson, and announcements for the Freaky Friday sequel. Incredibles 3 is happening, apparently. So is Frozen 3. Like I said, if you want something from Disney, this is the time you’ll hear about it.
