It’s officially my birthday month!
At the end of August, I’ll wave goodbye to my twenties and say hello to my thirties.
It’s a big milestone, and I’m not really sure how I should react to it. A lot of people feel like this is the beginning of the end, and so I want to counteract that by looking at the bright side of life.
I’ll ask you, if you’re over 40, what do you wish you had done in your thirties? What are you happy that you did?
Maybe you can help put together a ‘To-Do’ list!
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Halton Police getting a helicopter to fight car thieves
Very soon, car thieves all throughout Halton will have to worry about what’s above them. The Ontario Government announced $134 million in funding for five new police helicopters. One of those choppers will be going to the Halton Regional Police Service, with the plan of it helping fight against violent carjackings, auto theft, street racing and impaired driving. The next time a car gets stolen here in Milton, the Halton Police might very pull an Arnold.
Daily WTF – Headless ‘woman’ on New Zealand beach was a life-sized doll
A New Zealand woman was strolling along a beach with her dog when she came across something horrific: a headless woman! She immediately called the police, who quickly arrived on scene. An officer went over to the limp body that had washed ashore. He looked at it, nudged it with her foot, and then flipped it over. It was a life-sized (and very realistic) adult toy doll. Yeah. It took three officers to drag it back to their patrol car, where they presumably drove it to a dumpster and threw it away. All things considered, could have been worse!
Daily Did You Know – Annual car show returning to Downtown Milton
Get ready to spend a fun day in the sun surrounded by a bunch of classic and unique cars! The ‘See You in September’ car show is returning to Downtown Milton. There will be the cars, along with live music, food, activities, and more. Families are invited to hang out and enjoy everything being offered. It’s on Saturday, September 14th, starting at 4pm, right on Milton’s Main Street.
Milton Menace name fourth captain in franchise history
The Milton Menace have named their locker room leader for the 2024-2025 season. After a breakout year on the Menace blueline, Graeme MacAuley will wear the ‘C’ on his chest for the black and silver. He’s the fourth captain in franchise history. The best part? MacAuley’s still just 18-years-old, which means he could be the captain for the next TWO seasons. Hopefully he can take them back to the playoffs this year, and hopefully he can get them their first OJHL championship win. Fingers crossed!
Colin Jost to Host ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’ on Amazon Prime Video
Amazon has found their host for their upcoming ‘Jeopardy’ spin-off series. ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy’ will be led by SNL mainstay Colin Jost. He’s currently in Tahiti covering surfing for NBC’s Olympics team. It will follow the same format as the original series, but the answers and questions will all cover pop culture. Pretty simple, really. There’s no announced release date for the show, but it’s expected to be released on Amazon Prime Video when it does come out.
GOOD NEWS – Gymnast-turned-shooter Adriana Ruano wins Guatemala’s first Olympic gold
The best in any industry are the ones that can adapt to any situation. For Guatemala’s Adriana Ruano, she though her Olympic dreams were shattered when she damaged six vertebrae at 16-years-old, ending her gymnastics career. Thing is, she decided to shift her focus into shooting shotguns. Her doctor suggested the switch, and yesterday, she won women’s trap with an Olympic-record score of 45 out of 50… And that is some good news!
Cambridge Dictionary adds 3,200 new words including ‘boop’ and ‘chef’s kiss’
Get ready to freshen up on your slang as the Cambridge Dictionary has added 3200 new words. The latest update includes some interesting choices, including:
- Chef’s kiss — “A movement in which you put your fingers and thumb together, kiss them, then pull your hand away from your lips as a way of showing that you think that something or someone is perfect or excellent”
- This baby — “Something such as a device, vehicle, or product, especially one that you approve of or find impressive in some way”
- Porch piracy — “The act of stealing parcels that have been left outside people’s houses for them”
There’s a lot more, obviously. 3,236 new words, all of which I will either butcher, misuse or forget. It’s what I’m best at!
Carrie Underwood Replacing Katy Perry On ‘American Idol’
It seems ‘American Idol’ has found their replacement for Katy Perry, and it’s someone the audience knows very well. After winning the fourth season of American Idol way back in 2005, Carrie Underwood has reportedly signed on. She’ll take the empty seat left by Perry after she went off to attempt her comeback. Admittedly, I was very excited for that comeback and it hasn’t gone well. Swing and miss on that one. The other judges for season 23 of American Idol will be Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. It’s expected to start airing early next year.
