Plans to secure a long-term contract to export garbage has been approved for Simcoe County.
A 20-year contract was approved between Emerald Energy From Waste and County Council.
With local and provincial landfills reaching capacity, the county looked to Brampton.
Emerald Energy from Waste has redefined sustainable energy production by using household garbage to produce fuel.
One such case is how they use steam they produce to run the neighbouring paper mill.
The 20 year contract in Simcoe County is set to begin in November of 2026.
