The Darling Home for Kids (DHK) is holding their annual Wheels fundraiser this month.
It’ll be the 14th year for the event, presented by Mattamy Homes. They’ll take the fundraiser to Kelso Conservation Area in Milton, fit with new routes for cycling, hiking, and walking.
Families are invited for an accessible stroll along the boardwalk at Kelso Conservation area.
Participants looking to explore Kelso’s landscape further can sign up for the 5km route to hike the trails or ride their mountain bike.
At the start of the day, participants can enjoy breakfast, sponsored by Tim Hortons and Longo’s. At lunch, sponsored by Broccolini, guests will be welcomed with special remarks from Halton Regional Chair, Gary Carr, joined by Mayor Krantz, before hearing firsthand from DHK families as they share their story/experience.
“A place like DHK saves entire families from falling apart, by allowing us the time to be apart, so that it is possible to face more stretches of the ‘tough stuff’ when we are lucky enough to be reunited,” says Tiffany, a Darling Home for Kids’ Parent
Every dollar raised will support core programming and services at The Darling Home for Kids.
Over the years, fundraising efforts at Wheels supported various projects around the Home including the construction of a wheelchair accessible playground, respite bedroom renovations, a new Rhapsody bathtub and hygiene chair, renovated medication room, pet therapy, family support programs and many more.
The support of participants, sponsors and donors has allowed The Darling Home for Kids to continue providing specialized care and unique enriching experiences for Ontario’s most medically complex children and their families.
It’s being held on Sunday, June 23rd.
