Daily WTF – A year after Titan sub implosion, an Ohio billionaire says he wants to make his own voyage to Titanic wreckage
More rich people will be heading down to see the Titanic wreckage. Whether they return or not is the real question. The OceanGate Titan implosion was the story of the summer last year. It instantly took the lives of all five people on board at the bottom of the ocean. Almost a year later, a Canadian/Ohio real estate tycoon wants to prove everyone wrong and go on the trip himself. He runs Triton Submarines, which make submersibles for deep diving. Just like James Cameron, he also went to the bottom of the Marianas Trench, and he believes his ship can handle the depths of the Titanic wreckage without any issues. After last year’s implosion, he got a lot of calls about the quality of his product. So, he’s willing to put his body on the line and do the trip himself to prove the doubters wrong. I mean, hey, who am I to stop a billionaire from spending his money. We’ll have an update should this mission could either positively or negatively.
Daily Did You Know – Pride Flag raising happening at Milton Town Hall on Friday
A Pride Flag raising is happening tomorrow at Milton’s Town Hall! All Miltonians are invited. It’ll start at 11am, and a celebration will be held at Ivy Arms at 8pm.

Three local parks will go under construction and you can help with the designs
Multiple parks in Milton will be going under construction this year, and the Town of Milton wants to hear your thoughts on certain designs. Until June 19th, residents can share their feedback on the work that will be done at Melanie Park on Woodward Avenue, Watson Park on Clark Boulevard, and Bowes Neighbourhood Park on Trudeau Drive. Construction on these parks will begin this year and run until next year.
‘Young Sherlock’ Series Ordered By Amazon Prime Video
I want to talk about nepotism. Now, I should say, I actually don’t think nepotism is a bad thing. I think it’s incredibly common across every single industry that has ever existed. I know plenty of people who work in the same career field as their parents or other relatives. A lot of jobs are simply “who you know” and it is what it is. A lot of people have issues with nepotism in the entertainment, but if Johnny Depp’s daughter can act just as well as someone who isn’t Johnny Depp’s daughter, then maybe the studio would be better off hiring the already marketable person, you know? Anyway, what I’m actually talking about is this new Sherlock Holmes TV series. Amazon Prime Video will be taking on the old Arthur Conan Doyle stories and putting their own twist on them: Young Sherlock. The actor signed on to play Holmes is 26-year-old Hero Fiennes Tiffin. Do you know who he is? Probably not! But, you might have seen something he’s in already. You see, our guy Hero played a young Tom Riddle in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Tom Riddle is the boy who eventually becomes the Dark Lord, He Who Shall Not Be Named, Voldemort; played by Ralph Fiennes. If you notice, those two actors share similar surnames, and that’s because Hero Fiennes Tiffin is the nephew of Ralph Fiennes, one of the greatest actors of his generation. I had no idea that they were both related, but it makes sense, right? You get a young actor who resembles the main actor of this key character, it just makes sense. If his name was Howard Finkle Thompson, he probably doesn’t get that acting gig; probably doesn’t spark the start of an acting career that eventually lands him in the leading role as Sherlock Holmes for a major streaming series; and, probably quits to become like an accountant or something. Nepotism! Again, totally okay with it, happens all the time in every field of work, but it is funny seeing how many actors are related to somebody important. Anyway, Young Sherlock doesn’t have an official start date, but it will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
GOOD NEWS – A fifth grader’s fundraiser cleared his school of meal debt. It named an award for him
A school in Kansas City provides food to students, but it costs money for these families. As the school year came to a close, a fifth grader was worried about all the kids and their families who owed money. Daken Kramer decided he was going to do something about it. Holding a fundraiser, he asked his family, friends, local businesses and strangers to donate anything they could. He ended up raising $7,370, clearing all meal debt at his elementary school, and even helped with the debt at the local high school as well. At his fifth grade graduation, the school announced that there will be annual award named after the boy. The Daken Kramer Legacy Award will be handed out every year to honor students who go above and beyond… And that is some good news!
Rise and grind? Researchers reveal the best time to drink coffee
If you’re like myself and a lot of other people, you start your day by making coffee. The bitter bean juice is often the elixir that people need to get their day rolling. But what time is actually the best time of the day to first drink coffee? Researchers say it takes about 20-30 minutes for the caffeine in coffee to hit the bloodstream, thus, taking effect on the body. Thing is, a lot of people are already “awake” in the morning. Thus, this caffeine boost has less of an effect. They say that it might keep people focused, but it isn’t necessarily waking them up in the morning. They recommend holding off your first cup of coffee until the late morning or even early afternoon to help counter that slump we tend to feel around 2 or 3pm. However, you should make sure that your last cup of coffee is at least six hours before you go to bed. So, if you typically fall asleep at 10pm, you should stop drinking anything caffeinated by 4pm. If you can walk that fine tight-rope, you should start to notice your energy levels staying consistent each day, and really, that’s all we want.
Fatherhood might be bad for your heart
To all of the dads out there: how’s your heart? Researchers have found that kids might pull on their fathers’ heartstrings in more ways than one. Parents can all agree: having kids is a very stressful life. I’m sure it’s rewarding, but let’s not ignore the stress factor here. The study found that parenthood makes it hard for parents to maintain a healthy lifestyle through either dieting or exercise because having kids strains their time, and it’s actually hardest on men. The younger a man becomes a father also plays a factor, as those who became a dad under the age of 25 displayed more heart issues in the study. They suggested this is due to a lack of financial stability at that stage of life, and so more time is spent on trying to catch up to all of the financial struggles of young parenthood. Fathers were also more likely to smoke compared to non-fathers, which was interesting to read about. Anyway, to the dads out there, happy early Father’s Day, and take care of yourself!
