Social media is causing nightmares… LITERALLY!
A study out of Australia found that people who spend too much time online are developing “social media-related nightmares.” These people are having nightmares associated with social media, particularly about not being able to log on.
Are you experiencing these nightmares?
Is Freddy Krueger chasing you with an iPhone?

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Food truck festival coming back to Milton GO station this weekend
This weekend is going to be GREAT. The forecast looks great, we’re going to have the Downtown Milton SummerFest on Saturday, and happening all weekend is the Halal Food Tour. Returning once again to the Milton GO station, they’re expecting up to 25,000 people total for Friday, Saturday, Sunday. It starts at 5pm this Friday, and all food will be halal.
Daily WTF – Air travel has gone to the dogs — literally
If you’ve ever had to travel by plane with a dog, you know the experience is not a fun one. Either the dog is small enough to have with you during the flight or it needs to be sedated and held in a separate part of the plane. That can be scary for a dog owner! That’s where the newly created BARK airlines comes in. They describe themselves as “the world’s first air travel experience designed specifically for dogs first, and their human companions second.” Their first flight last week saw six different dog breeds, ranging from chihuahua to golden retriever, and 11 humans, including crew. The dogs were treated to special treats, naps, and even a shoe served on a plate. It’s like doggy daycare in the sky. The flight went smoothly with no accidents on the plane. Staff say the dogs are allowed to do their business on the plane. When the flight is done, the plane is thoroughly cleaned and prepped for the next one. If you’re wondering about price, I looked it up, it’s about $8000 to from London to New York next month… But hey, if you can afford that kind of thing, I’m sure your dog will appreciate it!
Daily Did You Know – Pride In Nature events coming to Conservation Halton parks
Conservation Halton is getting ready for Pride Month. They’re holding a number of Pride-inspired events at local parks next month. That includes a ‘Climb As You Are’ event at Milton’s Kelso Lake Conservation Area on Sunday, June 9th.
McDonald’s new McShaker Fries
McDonald’s has added a new item to their menu, and this one changes the flavours of their famous French fries. McShaker Fries were launched this week, and they come in two flavours: Masala and Churro. You get a bag of fries with a seasoning pack. You dump the seasoning into the bag, close it up, shake it around, and boom: new flavour of fries. Reviews have so far been good, with the general vibe being “yeah, that’s good, I guess.” Would you try these McShaker Fries? Let me know what you think!
Flying taxis, drones spark high hopes — and safety worries — among Canadians
It seems Canadians are a little worried about the future of flying cars. If you were to go off of ‘Back to the Future 2’, everyone by now would have flying cars. Highways would be like thousands of birds flying around each other to get to their destinations. Here we are in 2024, and flying cars are from the norm. They do appear to be on the horizon though, and Transport Canada is gathering public opinions on the matter. A recent survey found that Canadians are curious but a little worried when it comes to safety. Could you imagine being in the middle of downtown Toronto, looking up, and there’s an entire network of flying taxis and mini-helicopters above your head? It’d be pretty incredible and nerve-wracking to first see, right? How do you feel about the future of flying cars? Would you feel comfortable being in one? Have you ever been on a helicopter before? Let me know!
GOOD NEWS – Firefighter adopts dog he rescued
Firefighters are inherently very selfless people. It’s kind of the point of the whole job. Recently, emergency crews were called to a house in the UK. The resident had died, locked inside, and had no immediate family. That left the dog living in the home without an owner. After going through the proper process, firefighter James Trounson adopted the little terrier after rescuing her, saying “Out of tragedy, sometimes there is happiness…” And that is some good news!
Sarah McLachlan, Tom Cochrane among latest inductees into Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame
The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its latest inductees, with the class including Tom Cochrane, Sarah McLachlan, two members of Blue Rodeo, and Quebec singer Diane Tell. They join some impressive company as the last class included the likes of Bryan Adams, and Alanis Morissette, who wrote (in my opinion) the greatest song lyrics ever with ‘You Oughta Know’. This year’s induction ceremony will be on September 28th at Massey Hall in Toronto. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday.
House from ‘Home Alone’ hits the market
Many people watch Home Alone on an annual basis. It’s hailed as one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. One of the main characters of the movie is not even a human being, it’s the McAllister house. It’s one of the most famous movie homes ever, and the real life building is currently for sale. For the first time in 12 years, the McAllister family home is for sale in Winnetka, Illinois (Chicago suburbs). Back in 2012, this home sold for $1.5 million. Now, in 2024, it could be yours for $5.25 million… Talk about a great investment the last owner made! Hey, if you buy it now and it keeps going up like that in value, you could potentially sell it for like $25 million in 2036… I’m just saying, there are worse ways to spend $5 million.
Sitting in this way can benefit your whole body, say experts
There’s a good chance that you are sitting right now. Either on your way to work or while at work, sitting is a big part of a lot of people’s days. We’ve been told for a long while now that sitting is the new smoking, with the amount of sitting that people do nowadays being a detriment to their health. That’s where experts have come together to announce that there’s one specific way to sit that could have the OPPOSITE effects: it could benefit your whole body! They say that sitting on the floor cross legged can help your mobility and flexibility and can even work your abdominal muscles. These experts it’s especially beneficial for older people as the practice can help with balance and flexibility, leading to less falls. So, if you’re looking to get a six-pack ahead of the summer, maybe incorporate some ‘crisscross, apple sauce’ into your sitting routine. It might be the boost you’re looking for!
