A man has been arrested following a series of dumpster fires in Burlington.
On Friday, May 17th, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) responded to reports of the fires at commercial business properties in the area of Guelph Line and Fairview Street in Burlington. Officers attended the scene and after a brief search located the suspect a short distance away. Burlington Fire also quickly extinguished the fires, which resulted in minor damage to the property. No physical injuries were sustained.
As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old Matthew Grant, of no fixed address, has been charged with the following:
- 3 Counts of Arson
- 2 Counts of Mischief Under $5000
- 2 Counts of Obstruct Peace Officer
- Utter Threat to Cause Death
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Fentanyl)
- Fail to Leave Premises When Directed
Grant was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
