How was your long weekend?
I’m coming off being sick for two days, followed by a three-day long weekend. I essentially had a five-day weekend, which would be nice, if I didn’t spend the entire time sneezing, blowing my nose, and tearing up from needing to sneeze again. Not fun!
Still managed to go to my nephew’s birthday party. Thankfully I was feeling a bit better by then.
Did you do anything fun this long weekend? Did you go see the fireworks? Did you hit up the Farmers’ Market? Sit on a patio?
Let me know!

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – Filming for Shyamalan movie to pick back up in Milton [last] week
Hollywood was back in town last week as M. Night Shyamalan and his crew came by for reshoots of their latest movie ‘Trap’. Trailers are already out, so they’re just putting the final touches on this film. It looks good! Hopefully it has a big Shyamalan-esque twist and hopefully it involves Milton in some way. It comes out this summer. Can’t wait!
Daily WTF – USPS worker busted speeding over 100 mph in work van in race against Mustang
Who says the postal service is slow? A United States Postal Worker is in big trouble after they were caught drag racing a Mustang in their work van. 100 miles per hour in a 60-zone. To Canadianize that for you, that’s basically like going 160km/h on the 401… IN A POSTAL TRUCK! 28-year-old Drew Brown says she didn’t know she was going that fast. She paid a $50 fine and was given a warning, avoiding six months in jail. The USPS is also looking into the matter, meaning she could still face further punishment. In case you’re wondering, she did NOT beat the Mustang.

Taylor Swift Has Met With Kevin Feige To Discuss Marvel Cinematic Universe Role
It seems Taylor Swift might be going Hollywood, and she might be starting with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Comic book nerds are freaking out because a rumour is going around that Taylor has met with the MCU head honcho to discuss a potential movie role. It also helps that she’s been spotted alongside Ryan Reynolds at events thanks to Reynolds being married to one of Swift’s best friends: Blake Lively. It’s believed she’s in the new Deadpool movie, but whether she’s playing a character or herself is up in the air. Deadpool and Wolverine comes out this July. Should be a lot of fun!
‘Anti-sex’ beds have arrived at Paris Olympics
This July, we’ll see the start of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. The city is already prepared for everything, as they need to be ready for hundreds of athletes. Thing is, for a lot of these athletes, they’re young, single, and incredibly in-shape. What happens when you gather hundreds of young, single, attractive and fit athletes in dorm rooms for several weeks at a time? I think you can imagine. That’s why Olympics organizers have switched to using a new tactic: anti-sex beds! These things are entirely made of cardboard, and they are small, single-sized beds. They’ve officially been installed in every room, and the belief is these beds will deter athletes from engaging in extracurricular activities. Olympics officials have denied those allegations as being the reason for the beds, but like, come on… Come on… Let’s be honest, though: desperate people will find a way. I think we all know that much.
GOOD NEWS – A Manitoba farmer had a surplus of potatoes. So he gave millions of them away
A lot of people will have something to eat after a Manitoba farmer decided to donate their excess produce. Isaiah Hofer was on CBC radio talking with Matt Galloway when they shared that their farm had 100,000 bags of surplus potatoes. That means they had a million pounds of potatoes with nowhere to go. They came across a genius idea of donating the potatoes to the Farmlink Project, which started up during the pandemic. The project delivered the donations all across the continent, from Toronto to BC, to San Diego and New Mexico. Every single potato was claimed within ten days… And that is some good news!

Amazon Prime Video is launching a Jeopardy! spin-off show. It’s called ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’ The show is open to Canadians, with filming taking place in California. All you need to do is form a team of three and take a quick test. The best testers will be offered an audition for the show. There’s no word on who the host will be. Applications are open now – good luck!
McDonald’s is getting rid of self-serve drinks and some locations may charge for refills
It might be the end of an era for McDonald’s customers! The fast food franchise is reportedly removing self-serve drinks from their locations, and some are even charging for a refill. It’s already been reported that 100% of the drink stations will be removed by 2032, but it appears as though they’re getting an early jump on the shift. It’s not known if this has already started north of the border, but typically, we’re not that far behind what the US does. If McDonald’s locations get rid of the free refills, would you care? Are you that attached to the free drinks? Do you even go to McDonald’s enough to really care at this point? I’ll be honest, I usually get coffee when I go to McDonald’s. I don’t think I’ve taken advantage of the free refills since high school. What about you? Let me know where you stand!
Someone in Ontario is selling a $2.7 million home using Weird Al Yankovic and ninjas
If you’re trying to sell your home, and you’re having issues finding the right bidder, you might not be getting weird enough with it. A real estate broker in Ontario is using an interesting sales tactic: music videos! And not just any kind of music videos, but one that features a Weird Al Yankovic impersonator fighting ninjas all across the aforementioned house. The house itself is going for $2.7 million in Caledon. If this works, we might end up seeing a lot more Weird Al music videos in the real estate market… Which feels like such a strange thing to say.
