The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested an Oakville man following a lengthy fraud investigation.
It began back in 2022 when the victim’s family became aware of suspicious financial transactions being made by the victim. The elderly woman lives alone and is considered vulnerable.
This investigation found the victim was defrauded out of roughly $60,000 by a male suspect who had befriended her. The frauds were part of a series of transactions that began in 2021.
On Saturday, May 4th, HRPS arrested 56-year-old Bud Walker of Oakville. He has been charged with three counts of Fraud Over $5000.
Investigators are concerned that there may be additional victims.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation or anyone who may have been victimized by the accused is asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.
