What’s your favourite “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant in Milton?
People online are sharing their favourite little spots to eat at, and I was hoping to put a Milton twist on it!
Some of my local favourites are Louie’s Diner, Troy’s Diner, Grill Daddy (I like breakfast spots, what can I say?). I really enjoy going to WildFlour Bakery on Main Street, the Bola de Berlim with custard is the greatest donut I’ve ever eaten in my life.
So – what are your favourite local “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants?

What else did we talk about this morning?
ICYMI – This Milton road will be under construction this month
The spring season might have started in March, but we’re now getting ready for another season: CONSTRUCTION SEASON. It’s starting back-up around the community, with the Town of Milton announcing upgrades for High Point Drive, near Highway 401 and Regional Road 25. The work will take place on High Point, between Regional Road 25 and Parkhill Drive, near the Conestoga College campus. It’s expected to start this month and end sometime in May. No road closures are expected, but delays are possible.
Daily WTF – Mysterious light show over California
If you’ve listened to my morning show long enough, then you know that I love The X-Files with a passion. It’s one of my all-time favourite shows, and I’m so pumped for the upcoming reboot. It seems the reboot is getting a jump on conspiracies as mysterious lights were seen in the night sky over California. Residents from Sacramento to San Diego were able to see these weird lights, and they weren’t sure whether it was a meteor shower or UFOs. It turns out – it was neither! It’s reported as the remnants of Chinese spacecraft, falling from space and burning up in the earth’s atmosphere. It’s a good thing that’s all that happened, as we learned yesterday, sometimes stuff from space can fall right back to earth and right through your roof. I doubt you’d want a satellite crashing through your bungalow.
Milton by-election officially called by provincial government
The Milton by-election has finally been announced! Residents will be able to go out and vote on May 2nd. There will be advance polling days, and you’ll also be able to mail in your votes. But this all comes after Milton MPP Parm Gill resigned from his role to try and win the Milton MP seat from Adam van Koeverden in the next federal election. We’ll see if that happens, but first we have to get through this by-election – and it’s coming fast! Less than a month until voting day, it’ll be here before you know it!
Daily Did You Know – Donate your unwanted electronic devices to the Milton Public Library
If you have any unwanted electronic devices that you’re hanging onto, then stop by the Milton Public Library this weekend. They’re holding a tech collect event on Sunday at their Sherwood library branch. They’ll even take broken technology, so don’t worry about it looking perfect. It starts at 10am and runs until 2pm.
Milton soccer player signs with Italian team
Milton will have representation in Italy this fall! 17-year-old Michaela Ionadi has signed to play with a women’s professional soccer team in Italy. She’s been over there training for the last seven months, and finally put pen to paper to join the team. She’s been playing soccer since she was four-years-old, joining the Milton Magic Soccer Club. They’ll now send her off to a pro team, where she makes her debut in a few months time. Good for her! Let’s go, Michaela!
Former Raptors star Vince Carter elected to Hall of Fame
Big news for Toronto Raptors fans! As the team continues to experience the worst losing streak in franchise history, there was a nice silver lining reported yesterday afternoon. The one time ‘Face of Toronto Basketball’ Vince Carter will be heading to the Hall of Fame. He joined the team in 1998 after being drafted 5th overall, and is widely considered the reason for basketball booming in the Greater Toronto Area. Some even say that if it weren’t for “Vinsanity” the Raptors might have relocated like the Vancouver Grizzlies. So, congrats to Vince, but as someone who was a dedicated nine-year-old Raptors fan when he was traded, I’ll always hold that grudge against him for quitting on the team. Happy to see a legend get recognition, but boy, I can’t stand that man’s face.
Here’s how Canadians can apply to be on “The Bachelor”
If you are obsessed with reality television, whether it’s Survivor, Big Brother, or even dating shows like The Bachelor, here’s your chance to get on the silver screen and try it for yourself. The Bachelor has officially opened applications for their upcoming season. Canadians are allowed to apply, with the past season having a Canadian woman who made it very far. If you’re a single (or soon to be single) woman who doesn’t mind the idea of dating on television, apply now. You might just get a rose and experience love at first sight… alongside dozens of other women. What a show!
Gen Zers are ‘ghosting’ employers
The generation gap continues to get wider as the workplace is the latest battlefield. A recent survey polled 1500 workers in the UK, and the results are kind of shocking, especially regarding younger employees. 87% of Gen Z workers admitted to skipping scheduled interviews, and 91% have said they’ve not shown up to their first day of work. ‘Ghosting’ employers is becoming a common trend among younger people, and the whole idea has businesses scared. It’s fascinating to see the juxtaposition with older generations, as they’ve admitted to not taking lunch breaks or vacations because they’re worried about being fired or laid off. Where do you stand? Are you a fly by the seat of your pants and let it ride like Generation Z? Or are you walking on egg shells at the office like older Millennials and Generation X? Somewhere in between? Let me know!
Taylor Swift officially declared a billionaire by Forbes
Forbes magazine has published an article looking at celebrity billionaires. These are people who have made their money and earned their fame through the media. We’re talking television, music, films, sports, and fashion. There were 14 people on the list, with the ones you’d expect: Rihanna, Oprah, Michael Jordan – the usual suspects. However, it’s the final spot that caught people’s attention. Forbes says Taylor Swift is now a member of the Three Comma Club. She’s the first person to make a billion dollars primarily from songwriting and performing. Her ERAS tour is the biggest of all time, and every single she releases is a chart topper. She’s also managed to turn millions of people into football fans with her relationship with NFL superstar Travis Kelce, so, it’s been quite the year for ol’ T-Swift. We’ll see what 2024 has in store for her.
