How a Virgin Atlantic flight accidentally went faster than the speed of sound
Here’s a newsflash for you: Planes go fast. They go really fast. The fastest you’ve ever travelled is likely through a commercial flight, and for people flying near Newfoundland recently, they went faster than the speed of sound. Jet streams up in the sky were clocked in at 265 mph. That helped a flight from Washington to London reach speeds of 802 mph, faster than sound itself. It arrived at its destination 45 minutes early! I’m sure some people still complained about the length of the flight…

McDonald’s is dipping its toe in the anime world
Anime has become one of the biggest artforms on the planet. If you don’t watch the Japanese cartoons, there’s a good chance your kids or grandkids do. Fast food giant McDonald’s recognizes this and is looking to take advantage of that. They’ll launch a WcDonald’s location in Los Angeles, and will release a series of anime shorts. If you’re wondering, due to trademarks, many anime shows over the years have featured their characters eating at WcDonald’s. And now, it’s becoming a real thing. The anime shorts begin this week, and the WcDonald’s LA location opens for two days next month.
Tinder to require video selfies to verify user IDs as dating-app crime, AI use surge
Modern dating is getting harder and harder. For those on dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge, it’s challenging to find someone who is real and genuine… emphasis on real. For Tinder especially, scams have increased on the mobile dating app. With advancements in artificial intelligence, many users are swiping right on people that aren’t even people. To counter this, Tinder is moving to user verification methods to detract criminals. After testing well down under in Australia and New Zealand, the new features will start in the US, UK, Mexico, and Brazil over the next few months. Canada is likely not that far behind. If you’re currently on Tinder, be prepared to one day verify your realness… a first for Tinder in many ways!
Your mug could impact the flavor of your coffee, experts claim — here’s why
If you have a special mug at work, you might actually prefer the coffee there! A study done found that while a favourite mug doesn’t actually change the flavour of coffee, it does affect the perception of the drinker. Therefore, if you’re drinking coffee out of a plain white mug, you’ll have a lesser experience compared to when you drink out of your C3PO head mug. So, yeah, wash your favourite coffee mug and use it every day… You’ll thank yourself for doing it.
