What’s old is new again!
According to reports, Gen Z are now bringing back the landline phone. They seem to be “enchanted” with early 2000s technology, calling it retro. Flip phones are in, digital cameras are back, they’re using iPod Minis as hair clips.
The latest retro target is the landline phone.
People are quoted saying the phones “look cool” and they like to “play with the cords.” They’re also into the different designs and colours for a landline phone.
Do you still have your landline phone? If not, when did you cut the cord?
Let me know!

A Missing Scottish Trophy Will Be Awarded Again After 95 Years
Imagine the REAL Stanley Cup suddenly went missing. There’d be pandemonium across Canada. “Of course it’d go missing before the Leafs ever won it again,” you’d say. Well, that’s what happened to the Highland Games trophy 95 years ago. Kind of. The Rose Bowl (not that one) was given to a man named Charles Taylor after he won the games three times in the 1920s. He then hung onto it for a long while. In the 1980s, the Highland Games asked about the whereabouts of the trophy, in which they found it, but then lost track of it again. They put out a second request, asking for anyone to come forward with the trophy. Now, according to reports, it’s been found in the possession of a man named Adrian Taylor – Charles Taylor’s grandson. Yep, it never left the family. Good news: they got the trophy back. For the first time in almost 100 years, it’ll be given out to the winner of the Highland Games. All’s well that ends well.
An Ontario college will use artificial intelligence to teach students
It seems that artificial intelligence will take over the classroom. Seneca Polytechnic announced that they will use an AI software known as Microsoft Azure OpenAI to help students and staff. They’ll have an AI tutor, essentially. It will help students with “course material, as well as provide simulated, personalized job interviews based on job postings.” Just as we enter a teacher shortage, it seems the robots have swooped in to save the day. Surely, nothing could POSSIBLY go wrong.
Millennials outnumber baby boomers for first time
Move over, boomers – there’s a new big dog in town… and we have way less money! Stats Canada says that, for the first time ever, baby boomers are outnumbered by a new generation: their children’s generation! As the post-war generation continues to age and enter retirement, it seems the numbers have expectedly fallen off. That’s opened the door for millennials to officially outnumber. Does it mean the average millennial can buy a house yet? No! Unless you have significant financial help from the boomers. So, in a way, the boomers still rule the world… FOR NOW!
Apple says not to put wet iPhones in uncooked rice
If you’ve ever dropped your phone in water and found it not working after, you’ve likely tried to put the thing in uncooked rice. The idea is that rice is water absorbent, and it would suck out any moisture inside the device that’s impacting it. Well, Apple says, don’t do that! Apparently placing your phone in rice leaves it vulnerable to small particles that could damage the interior of your phone. They also don’t recommend charging a wet phone. You should wait until both the phone and charging cable are dry to avoid corrosion occurring in the charging port. What should you do? Gently tap your phone against your hand to try to get the water out, and leave it in a dry area. It’s that simple, and that way, you can save some rice for dinner.
