You’re invited to a Pap Party!
Milton’s Prime Care Family Health Team is inviting local women to register for their routine cervical cancer screening. They’re holding a new initiative that is aiming to take the stress out of the experience and improve cancer screening rates in the region.
Executive Director Gina Mannella says many women put off getting their pap smear done for several reasons.
The visit will be a 30-minute time block. While you wait for your provider, women’s health experts will be on-hand with some educational information. There will also be snacks and drinks available.
Once the appointment is done, the provider will follow up with next steps if any potential issues are found through the screening. Mannella says they follow the Ministry of Health guidelines, adding that “no news is good news” following the procedure.
The Pap Party is being held on Wednesday, March 6th, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Prime Care Family Health Team location at 470 Bronte Street South, Unit 110, in Milton.
If you’re interested in taking part, you can book your spot here. The goal is to hold more Pap Parties in the future, potentially running at later times to make it easier for patients to work it around their schedule.
