Milton Menace take the ice, 2019
The Milton Menace are rolling!
On Friday, February 16th, the Menace were host to the first-place Collingwood Blues. It was the third game of the OJHL season between the two teams, with the Menace winning the last one 3-2 in double overtime. The first game was 10-0 thumping by the Blues.
It was the Menace who struck first on Friday night, with Graeme Macauley scoring on the powerplay. His 8th goal of the season was assisted by Joseph Macchione and Ivan Fabjan. Before the end of the first frame, the Menace would get another one. Captain Connor Driscoll scored his 25th of the season. The powerplay marker was assisted by Macauley and Aidan Puley. The Menace led 2-0 after 20 minutes.
In the second period, the Blues would score two goals early to tie the game. The Menace would continue their luck on the powerplay, with Fabjan getting his 20th of the year, assisted by Macauley and Puley. Macauley would keep scoring, getting his second of the game and fourth point of the night. His 9th goal was assisted by Macchione and Driscoll. The Menace led 4-2 after two periods of play.
Just like the second period, the Blues would score two goals to start the final frame. With the game tied, it was Gavin Sheehan who came to the rescue. He scored his 7th goal of the year, assisted by Ashtyn Pacheco and Markus Hicks. With just a few minutes left, the Menace clung onto the win, beating the Blues 5-4.
In net was Glen Crandall, who stopped 40 of the 44 shots he faced. That’s good for a .909% save percentage and the win.
Later on in the long weekend, the Menace would welcome in the Caledon Admirals on Monday, February 19th.
The last time these two teams played, the Menace beat Caledon 4-2.
Neither team was able to score in the opening period, but it was Aidan Puley who got the Menace on the board first. His 26th goal of the season was on the powerplay, and assisted by Graeme Macauley and Connor Driscoll. The Admirals would tie the game up just a few minutes later, but Justin O’Donnell took that lead right back. The powerplay goal was his 17th of the season, and was assisted by Marcus Tryfon and Madden MacDougall. Milton was leading Caledon 2-1 after two periods of play.
The final frame was scoreless until the last second, as Tristan Tremble netted his 8th of the season with just one second left on the clock. His empty netter was assisted by Aidan Puley and Alexander Siletsky. The Menace beat the Caledon Admirals 3-1.
In net for the holiday Monday game was Forbes Andersen. He stopped 19 of 20 shots, giving him an even .950% save percentage.
