How do you feel about working 9-5?
Conversation has started online after a TikTok video from Anthony Voulgaris went viral for complaining about the standard work day. The young Aussie said that he’s over eight hour shifts, and much prefers the idea of a 9:00 a.m. – 2 :00 p.m. day.
He thinks whoever came up with 9-5 planned society wrong, and it needs to change, adding that people would get just as much work done in five hours and probably enjoy their job a lot more.
What do you think? Should we abandon the 9-5 for something a bit shorter? As someone who works 5:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (and sometimes longer), I’m all for it!
Let me know what you think!

ICYMI – Gift a free swim or skate this Valentine’s Day

Daily WTF – Woman endures extreme cold in ice box for three hours to set record
How well do you do in the cold? We had a cold snap last week, wind chills reaching close to -30… wasn’t fun! For Katarzyna Jakubowska of Poland, she can handle the cold pretty well! So well in fact that she willingly sat in an ice box up to her neck for three hours, six minutes and 45 seconds. The 48-year-old broke the women’s record, and actually fell roughly five minutes shy of the men’s record (also set by a Poland-native). Even crazier, her body was fine afterward! She said she barely even felt the cold, and recommends more people give it a shot. No, I don’t think I will, thanks. Read more here…
Daily Did You Know – Milton Chamber and Laurier University team up for new scholarship
For years and years and years, the Milton Chamber of Commerce has been handing out scholarships to local students as they prepare to enter post-secondary education. It’s always fun to see the students receive their awards! This year, there will be an additional scholarship handed out. The Chamber has teamed up with Wilfrid Laurier University. Together, they’ll award a local Laurier student with a scholarship. Along with that specific scholarship, there’s one handed out to a student at each Milton high school, as well as one child from a Chamber member (local businesses). Deadline to apply is in April! A look inside the Lost and Found at Lambeau Field
On Wednesday, we talked about the strange things found inside toilet pipes causing blockages. People flushed teeth, bananas, and even a whole tent! It seems Green Bay, Wisconsin has a collection of strange items of their own, and it’s all kept at the famous Lambeau Field. If you’ve ever been to a sporting event, especially one as big as an NFL game, you likely know, people aren’t always in a sober state of mind. With all that heavy drinking, people tend to forget things. These items are found in the seats, the bathroom, the corridor – all around the stadium. Those tends to be your standard toques, mitts, gloves – BUT, staff have also come across canes, dentures, and hearing aids. The good news: the lost and found hangs on to these items for you. The bad news: there’s a 60 day policy and items are donate to shelters afterwards. I wanna meet the person who saw the dentures and called dibs. Read more here…
A Pink Floyd CD is returned to a library — 35 years overdue
You’d be surprised at how many people don’t know just HOW MUCH a public library offers the community. Yes, they have books – but they also video games, music, magazines, etc. Milton’s library has a seed collection that you can borrow from, and other libraries even allow you to take out things like appliances or sporting equipment. All free of charge! I say all of that to say, sometimes, people forget to bring the borrowed items back. For one Maryland resident, they held on to Pink Floyd’s famous album ‘Wish You Were Here’ for 35 years! It was returned because the library announced they have waived all late fees, hoping people would bring back long lost items. They got their wish! Even after all this time, the library says it was still in good condition. Why did this person have the album for so long? Good question. Have you ever met a Pink Floyd fan? They don’t necessarily live a sober lifestyle at all times. But hey, at least it’s back. Read more here…
Jon Stewart returns to ‘The Daily Show’ for 2024 election cycle
The Daily Show finally has their replacement for Trevor Noah… kind of! Jon Stewart is taking his seat back, but only on Mondays. He had previously hosted the show from 1999 – 2015. Noah replaced him for seven years, before announcing his departure in December 2022. The program has struggled to find a full-time replacement ever since. This will be the first US federal election year that Stewart has hosted the show for since 2012, and A LOT OF PEOPLE are excited to see his weekly takes on Trump, Biden, and the rest. Should be fun, if nothing else. Read more here…
Help United Way Halton & Hamilton cross the finish line of their fundraising campaign

They’re about 3/4 of the way there, and they’re asking for your help to cross that finish line. This year’s campaign ends on March 31st. Read more here…
White Lotus Star Tom Hollander Recalls Accidentally Receiving Tom Holland’s ‘Astonishing’ Avengers Bonus Check
Well, this is awkward. It appears as though Disney got mixed up on who exactly is playing Spider-Man. 27-year-old Tom Holland has been in the role for almost a decade, and has since seen his star power skyrocket. With him playing such a pivotal role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can expect him to make a lot of money. It seems even for White Lotus actor Tom Hollander (different guy), the amount that Holland makes surprised even him. Hollander accidentally received Holland’s bonus cheques for Spider-Man, and the 56-year-old British actor says the seven-figure bonus floored him, and removed all smugness he’d developed over his career. That’ll happen when someone in your industry half your age makes your life savings in a bonus cheque. Good news, the whole mix-up was settled, and I’m sure Tom HOLLAND put that money to good use. Hopefully he bought Tom HOLLANDER something nice. Read more here…
North Carolina middle school takes bathroom mirrors away from TikTok-addicted students
Students at a North Carolina middle school were taking WAY TOO MAY washroom breaks during classes. Instead of assuming that students these days were just hydrating more often, the school investigated the matter. They’d discovered that these students were actually using these breaks to record TikTok videos in the washrooms. To fix this issue, they decided the best course of action was a drastic one… they removed the mirrors! Sounds ridiculous, but apparently it worked! Students are now taking WAY LESS breaks during class. So, if you ever attend your kid’s school in the future and there aren’t any mirrors in the washroom, you might know why! Read more here…
Mom Enters Hospice in Final Days of Cancer and Releases Viral Song for 7-Year-Old Son — Now It’s Charting
This one is an emotional one. A singer named Cat Janice has been living with cancer for a few years. Recently, it got a lot worse and she’s had to enter hospice to live out her remaining few days in as much comfort as possible. Janice had recorded a song though, and she released it while in palliative care. She took to social media to ask people to make this thing go viral so that it can make money, and that money can go to her seven-year-old son. The disco-dance tune, titled ‘Dance You Outta My Head‘, has since begun to chart. Hopefully we can add it to our collection because it’s a great song! Read more here…
