A collision in Halton Hills has left a Georgetown man dead and injured an Acton woman.
On Wednesday, December 27th at 4:40 p.m., the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 17 Side Road and Trafalgar Road in Halton Hills.
Police say the collision occurred when a Ford Taurus, driving westbound on 17 Side Road, attempted to turn left onto Trafalgar Road in front of a northbound Mazda CX5.
The driver of the Ford Taurus, a 76 year-old Georgetown man, was transported to Georgetown hospital by ambulance, but died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the collision.
The driver of the Mazda, a 64-year-old woman from Acton, was also transported to hospital. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation; however, initial information indicates the northbound Mazda had the right of way at the signalized intersection.
The collision was witnessed by a number of people, many of whom remained at the scene to provide aid to the involved drivers and provided witness statements to police.
Any witnesses who have not provided statements to police, are requested to contact the Halton Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext 5065.
