Beware: You might not being speaking with a local firefighter.
Milton Fire & Rescue Services (MFRS) says they have received reports of people impersonating firefighters when calling residents. These scammers are calling people and asking for donations for the local fire department.
MFRS has issued a notice to residents to know that they have no active phone campaigns running at this time. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from the Milton Fire Department, hang up and report it to the Halton Regional Police Service Regional Fraud Unit at 905-465-8741.
Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers. “See something? Hear something? Know something? Contact Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through the web at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
