United Way Halton & Hamilton has officially launched the Holiday Helping Hand program!
This is a community driven initiative aimed at supporting local agencies and families during the holiday season.
Over the holidays, individuals and businesses can take part in the program in a number of ways, including helping pack stockings at a local agency, adopting a family in need, or contributing to a gift drive.
“We believe in the power of coming together as a community to support our neighbors in need,” says Brad Park, President and CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton. “United Way is dedicated to playing an active role in assisting our local agency partners and helping improve the lives of families during the holiday season.”
The holiday season is such a vital time for volunteering. VP of Marketing and Communications for UWHH Kristen Jacob shares why she thinks people are so willing to donate their time over the next few weeks and months:
All volunteering opportunities are listed here.
Registration for volunteer projects is first-come, first-served, so make sure each member in your group registers to reserve their spot. The deadline for adopt-a-family and gift drive is Friday, December 8th. All adopt-a-family and gift drive items must be dropped off to the Community Donation Warehouse in Burlington, on Monday, December 11th and Tuesday, December 12th, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Additional details will be provided with registration confirmation.
“Our local agency partners are facing financial challenges and increased demands,” adds Park. “Dollars don’t stretch the way they used to, and many agencies have United Way Halton & Hamilton received funding amounts at pre-inflation times. United Way Halton & Hamilton is committed to alleviating some of the pressures on our partners by supporting them with programs, like Holiday Helping Hand.”
This year, there are well over 100 families in our local community who require support.
United Way Halton & Hamilton needs help in raising over $12.5 million to help ensure that agency partners can continue delivering the over 106 programs that our most vulnerable community members rely on.
