An Oakville resident has died following a collision this week.
On Monday November 6th, at roughly 12:10 p.m., the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) was called to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Dundas Street West and the 403 Westbound (Hamilton-bound) off-ramp.
A white Ford F150 operated by a 17-year-old Mississauga resident entered into the intersection from the highway and collided with two vehicles travelling eastbound on Dundas Street. Initial information provided by witnesses indicated traffic on Dundas Street had the right of way at the intersection controlled by traffic lights.
The first vehicle struck was a Toyota matrix driven by a 72-year-old Oakville resident. The second vehicle was a white Volkswagen Golf driven by a 62-year old Toronto resident.
The driver of the Matrix suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Golf was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening inures. There were no other occupants in the eastbound vehicles.
The driver of the pick-up truck, as well as a 15-year old passenger who was also from Mississauga, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Halton Regional Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation. There are no indications that any of the involved drivers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol or that excessive speed was a contributing factor to the collision.
Police are investigating if a medical event was a factor in the collision.
Westbound lanes on Dundas Street have re-opened; however, there are still lane closures in the Eastbound direction while the vehicles are being removed.
Any witnesses who have not provided statements to police, are requested to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext 5065.
