Milton Town Hall
Infrastructure continues to be the plan for the Town of Milton as the area continues to grow.
At the most recent Town Council meeting, the Town’s annual performance report was addressed, including a breakdown on local infrastructure. In 2022, infrastructure investments included:
- Adding more than 20 km of storm sewer lines and 390 storm sewers.
- Installing 6 km of walking trails and almost 10 km of bike trails.
- Increasing the Town’s municipal road network by eight km.
- Issuing 1,531 new residential and industrial, commercial and institutional (ICI) building permits, up 36 per cent from 1,124 permits in the 2021 fiscal year.
The Town says it continues to provide a foundation for planned growth across the community through the development and maintenance of high quality infrastructure.
“Collecting, analyzing and acting upon data helps Town staff focus on advancing our collective vision for Milton 2051,” Andrew Siltala, Chief Administrative Officer, Town of Milton. “Milton will continue to grow, and we want to be sure that we are putting the right uses in the right locations.”
Growth is anticipated to continue, bringing with it opportunities such as postsecondary education, varied housing options, enhanced transit, and financial stability for Milton.
In 2022, the Town began reporting annually on a series of Council-endorsed indicators of municipal service delivery performance. Council has directed Town staff to make sure that planning is deliberate and purposeful.
