The Laval Police Department has arrested and charged a 70-year-old man following a historic sexual assault investigation.
Ronald Angelo Cecchini was arrested in June in connection to an investigation that dates back to the late-1970s/early-1980s involving minors. Between 1979 and 1982, the suspect was a teacher at a primary school located in the Chomedey district in Quebec. The report says that Cecchini sexually touched a student multiple times in that time period.
He was charged with indecent assault, due to the Criminal Code at the time. His case returns to the Court of Quebec on November 8th.
The suspect was also a teacher in Ontario, which has led investigators to put out a call for any potential victims to come forward. The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) put out a tweet, saying this involves Halton, as well.
Investigators in Laval believe that there may be additional victims in Halton / Ontario.
The accused is a former teacher and facing a charge of indecent assault for an offence that took place in the early 1980s in QC.
