The Town of Milton is making sure everyone is included when it comes to cycling.
They recently partnered with ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development and iCan Shine (a non-profit organization) to support inclusive cycling for children with disabilities through the iCan Bike program.
iCan Shine collaborates with local organizations to host five-day camps in their communities. Over 35 children ages eight and up participated in the program at John Tonelli Sports Centre in Milton. All participants had the chance to reach their goal of independent cycling on a conventional two-wheel bicycle using adapted equipment.
“We are committed to providing a variety of recreation programs for all abilities, this includes inclusive and adaptive programs for all ages,” says Steve Palmer, Director, Recreation & Culture, Town of Milton. “We are looking forward to fostering these partnerships and continuing to offer these types of programs to our Milton community.”
