Approximately 1000 people took part in the inaugural 5-km run in honour of a slain OPP constable who grew up in Barrie.
Almost $20,000 was raised for the OPP Provincial Constable Greg Pierzchala Memorial Run.
Police have reported the May 13 run in honour of the fallen constable has established a memorial scholarship in his name.
The scholarship will be awarded to students of St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, where Pierzchala attended as a high school student.
Pierzchala, was killed in the line of duty while responding to a collision in December of 2022.
