A Burlington man is facing charges after a head-on collision killed motorcycle rider in Oakville.
On Wednesday, June 7th, at roughly 1:40 p.m., the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) attended the scene in the area of Lakeshore Road West and Windsor Gate in Oakville. The early investigation indicates that a head-on collision occurred between a westbound Vespa motorcycle and an eastbound Nissan Rogue SUV. A third vehicle was also damaged in the collision.
The rider of the motorcycle was a 58-year-old Oakville man. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Halton Police have identified the driver as 25-year-old Christian Cardinali of Burlington. He was arrested and has been charged with:
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death
- Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death contrary to the Criminal Code
The Collision Reconstruction Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation.
