The latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police is now available.
There were seven cases across Halton over the Victoria Day long weekend:
On Friday, May 19th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Ontario Street and Main Street in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 50-year-old Milton man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, May 19th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Lakeshore Road West and Great Lakes Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Mississauga man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, May 19th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Main Street South and Cobblehill Road in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Innisfil man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Sunday, May 21st, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Cedar Springs Road and Britannia Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 40-year-old Milton woman was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, May 21st, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Argyll Road and Mountainview Road South in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Halton Hills man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, May 21st, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of James Snow Parkway and Main Street East in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Brampton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Monday, May 22nd, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of North Service Road West and Dorval Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 38-year-old Smithville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
