We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were seven cases across Halton this past week:
On Tuesday, May 16th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Kerr Street and Stewart Street in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, May 16th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Derry Road and Thompson Road in Milton. As a result of an investigation, a 52-year-old Mississauga man was charged with operation while impaired.
On Tuesday, May 16th, Halton Police officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Rebecca Street and Bronte Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 61-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, May 17th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Appleby Line and Corporate Drive in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 36-year-old Burlington man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, May 17th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Chalmers Street and Lakeshore Road West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, May 18th, Halton Police officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Appleby Line and 1 Side Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 48-year-old Milton man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, May 18th, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Highway 7 and Fifth Line in Halton Hills. As a result of an investigation, a 30-year-old Halton Hills man was charged with operation while impaired.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
