We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were six cases across Halton last week:
On Tuesday, May 2nd, Halton Regional Police Service officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of North Shore Boulevard East and the QEW in Burlington. As a result of this initiative, a 31-year-old Burlington woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Tuesday, May 2nd, Halton Regional Police Service officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Mill Street East and Wilbur Street North in Acton. As a result of this initiative, a 29-year-old Burlington woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Wednesday, May 3rd, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Dundas Street and Walkers Line in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 64-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, May 4th, Halton Regional Police Service officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. initiative in the area of Royal Windsor Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of this initiative, a 46-year-old Mississauga woman was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Thursday, May 4th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of South Service Road West and Wyecroft Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Oakville man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, May 5th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mountainview Road and Sinclair Avenue in Georgetown. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Oakville woman was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
