There was a shooting in Burlington this afternoon.
At roughly 1:50 p.m., the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) officers responded to the area of Guelph Line and New Street for reports of a victim sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time and no suspect description has been provided.
The HRPS adds that there is no ongoing risk to public safety at this time.
Area residents can expect an ongoing police presence as the investigation continues.
