We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were five cases across Halton last week:
On Wednesday, March 8th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Eighth Line and Kestell Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, March 9th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Trafalgar Road and the QEW in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 26-year-old Amaranth resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, March 9th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Fairview Street and Darlene Court in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Burlington resident was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, March 10th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of the QEW and Brant Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 24-year-old Hamilton woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Friday, March 10th, Halton Regional Police Service officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Plains Road East and Waterdown Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 47-year-old Grimsby resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
